Throughout the course, I do not feel that I used the Evernote products to their full potential. Especially at the beginning of the course. This is primarily because I am rather against heavily relying on technology and am not particularly good with computers. As the course progressed, however, I became more acclimated to the use of Evernote, and therefore used it more frequently. I think of myself as being a paper person; I prefer to have hard copies of books that I am reading and I prefer to write my notes by hand. I feel that this helps me to better remember the information. Because of this, I initially thought that Evernote would be more detrimental for me, because I would be less likely to remember things written in it. That being said, when I was working on papers or projects, I found that I relied on Evernote more and more. I would write little summaries of sources, and put links to them. I really liked the little checkbox function that the Evernote had, so you could make lists of things you needed to read or do and then check them off as they were completed. I did not use Evernote Web Clipper as much as I should have, yet I do feel that it could be an immensely useful tool. Though as I have previously mentioned, I am not particularly good with computers and have serious issues figuring out how to use both the Web Clipper and Zotero.
For the most part, my Evernote is not particularly organized, but now that I have gotten the hang of it, future notes will be more organized. At first, everything was just put into one continuous note, which I kept adding to over and over again. In the future I would make better effort to title the songs appropriately, therefore making certain pieces of information easier to find. If I were to have organized my notes by topic rather than chronologically, it would have been more effective, because then there would be less searching through the note itself for the information I was looking for. I tagged most of my notes exactly the same for this reason. Because of the length of my notes, many of them ended up having similar themes and topics occurring in them, causing them to need similar tags. I also improved my tagging abilities, as in the beginning, I tagged every note as "schools" and "education" and "reform", but as time progressed, I began to use more useful tags and they became more specific. I have put all of my notes into the one initial EDC notebook.
One organizational tactic that I often find myself using is to write things down on little notecards and tape them up everywhere where I can see it. It helps me to see everything all in one place. I fell like I will likely use Evernote in future courses, but I do not know to what extent this will be.
